We meet again

Posted on Sun Oct 18th, 2026 @ 9:00pm by Commander Thomas Carey & Lieutenant T’Lanna

1,078 words; about a 5 minute read

Mission: Ashes of Vega Colony
Location: Mess Hall
Timeline: Before arriving at the explosion

T’Lanna sat alone simply observing the crew as they came and went, she politely ate her Vulcan salad as she read the PaDD she’d bought with her.

Walking into the room, he walked up to the replicator ordered a simple tray of steak and eggs. As he scanned the room, his glance took notice of a sole vulcan in the room. This wasn't unexpected, there was some visitors that were coming onboard, but who that vulcan was.

Last time on Shore leave, even though he stated, that he wasn't going to the planet, he secretly did. Even though it was a 12 hrs. It was enough to meet someone, and find a place to have a... rendez-vous. More was planned, but they were whisked away to the planet they were heading to now. Taking his plate, he walked up to the table.

"Care to tell me your name now? Lt..." He asked

T’Lanna looked up her eyes wide as she looked at him, last time she’d seen Thomas she was wrapped up in their shared bedsheet having let her inhibitions completely go. “Commander…Sir” She motioned for him to sit. “It’s T’Lanna.” She smiled as she relaxed. “I didn’t expect to see you here.”

"Like wise. I didn't know you were starfleet. Part of the exchange I take it?" He asked as he sat down.

“Kind of” T’Lanna nodded. “As far as my people are concerned I’m an outsider, a Vulcan without logic. They didn’t think I’d make it this far, but here I am ready to prove them wrong.” She offered a smile.

"Wasn't there a group that the enterprise encountered a few years ago... they transferred some sort of... something to t'pol?"

“Possibly” T’Lanna nodded. “Mind melds are considered a violation to Vulcans, forced mind melds can do a lot of damage. I can meld to a point, but it’s exhausting. My mother was exposed to Trellium D when she was pregnant, they saved me but they didn’t think I’d ever be normal.”

"That would explain a few things." He replied as he took a bite. "Pon farr wasnt the excuse when we were on the surface."

“No, it wasn’t.” T’Lanna smiled. “Though I do still have that problem when that time of my life demands it. In between that I’m free to enjoy myself.”

"A smiling Vulcan, can't say I would have that on my bucketlist." Thomas replied "That is also good to know. So care to tell me about yourself."

T’Lanna shrugged her shoulders. “I guess it’s only fair after our err…shoreleave fun.” She gave him a wry smile. ‘I’m an only child, daughter of an influential Vulcan man. My mother passed away when I was young due to the Trellium D exposure that caused my inability to reach Kholinar. I spent years training, and am capable of touch telepathy and Empathy. I was sponsored by someone unknown for my entry into the exchange program, my residency was at Starfleet Medical before I was assigned here.”

"And let me guess you are almost 100, recall when you first came in contact with us humans?"

“No, I’m actually still young in Vulcan terms more or less 30 Earth years. I have a lot of years ahead of me. As for the first time I had contact with Humans, it was at Starfleet Medical actually. I found your species to be, for want of a better word, fascinating!”

"Fascinating, now there is your vulcan speaking." Thomas replied with a chuckle. "So getting back to duty... have you spoke with the captain yet?"

“I certainly have. I made a point of it when I got here.” T’Lanna nodded. “You were going to be my next stop, but you found me first though I didn’t realise the First Officer was you.”

"Also weapons/security Officer." Thomas replied "So is this going to get complicated considering, we know each other, intimately... well that’s all we know about each other.”

T’Lanna nodded. “So does that mean you’d like to continue knowing me intimately, or are we just classing that as a one off happening?”

"It is a question, that may take a while, on both our sides. Hell you may not like me, and I may not like you." Thomas replied. "I do know that... 'under the sheets' i do."

“Then let me rephrase that, do you want us to get to know one another better?” T’Lanna smiled. “We both enjoy keeping the bed warn for each other, so it would be the perfect opportunity wouldn’t it?”

"That seems the logical idea considering, what we know of each other already."

T’Lanna smiled. “I very much like that idea Commander. We can get to know each other a lot better.”

"Very well... where would you like to start?"

“Now there’s a loaded question!” T’Lanna grinned. “How’s about we have dinner tonight and you can tell me all about you?”

"Sounds like a plan." Thomas agreed.

“Wonderful” T’Lanna smiled. “In the meantime can you give me a quick rundown on our current mission please. I like to be completely up-to-date.”

"Apparently we are headed to a mining colony where theres been an explosion which is suspicious, and protests going on."

T’Lanna nodded. “Well we’ll no doubt find out what’s what when we get there.” She added as she paused to sip her drink. “Have you been First Officer here for long?”

"Going on two years. I was part of the Columbia crew before transferring over here."

T’Lanna nodded. “So you’ve more or less been here a while. Anyone I should watch out for?”

"Just a regular run of the mill orion meet up. Klingons, and the various bullies in the area."

T’Lanna nodded. “Understood.” She offered a smile. “So can I temp you to have dinner with me tonight?”

"Depends, what are you going to tempt me with."

“Ohh I’m sure I’ll think of something” T’Lanna smiled a wry smile.

"Well then..." He replied looking at the time. "I guess we will meet at your quarters after my shift?"

“Sounds good to me.” T’Lanna nodded. “I’ll look forward to it.”

"That makes both us."

“Excellent” T’Lanna smiled warmly. “I think it’s going to be a fun evening.”
